The unique beaches of Balos, Falasarna and Elafonisi are nearby. From the New National Road the visitor can travel quickly to Chania old Town and other popular areas. Crete, of course, is famous for its rich history. The Minoan civilisation flourished from 2700 to 1450 BC and this ancient people have left a fascinating legacy. There are tombs, sacred caves, monuments and a museum full of extraordinary exhibits.
